Acting on a proposal by one of our members, the VOG is instituting a donation card program whereby members or others wishing to make a donation to the VOG, either in memory of someone or in recognition of a special event, can have a card sent in acknowledgement. Donations must be for a minimum of $25. The donor will receive a tax receipt for the amount, and the honoree will receive a card from the Guild stating that a donation (amount unspecified) has been made and expressing an appropriate message of condolence or congratulations. The donor can specify to which of the Guild’s various donation categories (Career Development, Opera in Schools, Facelift Fund, or unrestricted) the money is to be assigned.
The cards will be printed, on demand, on VOG notecard stationery bearing the current VOG logo, and may bear either the donor’s choice of a number of standard wordings, or a custom-designed message of up to 3 lines of type.
Here are some samples of possible wording:
1) Best wishes on your special birthday.
2) In memory of __________________________ with sympathy for your loss.
3) With heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences on the loss of _____________________.
4) Congratulations on your ______________ (16th/65th/80th/90th birthday, anniversary, graduation, bat/bar mitzvah, promotion, etc.).
The message portion of the card will look approximately like this:
